April 16th – 17th, 2024 | Hybrid Event
TURAC 2024+
Mark your calendars for April 16th – 17th, 2024! You don’t want to miss the next Tri-University Research Administration Convening 2024+. This convening event will be a hybrid format, with in-person programming held on Flagstaff’s Northern Arizona University campus, plus live-streaming online.
TURAC 2024+ is a professional development opportunity designed to help research administrators grow, reflect, and connect with other research administrators at Arizona’s public universities.
While TURAC 2024+ prioritizes the research administration functions at Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, and the University of Arizona, we extend a warm invitation to research administrators from other Arizona research institutions and community colleges as well. Your participation is welcomed and highly encouraged.

+ in TURAC 2024+
Many interested this year’s Tri-University Research Administration Convening, might ask: “What’s up with the + in the TURAC+ 2024 branding?” Our response to this fair question is straightforward. This year’s convening is much more than a simple gathering of research administrators, statewide. While the human participation is always crucial for conference success, we wanted to offer more this year to all who attend: We want to add increased value to the experience. We want to use more ingredients. We want to ensure there are positive and measurable outcomes from the convening that make participants stronger, eager, and thirstful for more.
To attain these aspirations, we only need to focus on this year’s Mission-Vison-Values statement for the convening. Reading these statements, it becomes apparent that the centerpiece for our convening will be the individual research administrators, state-wide – along with their accommodating host institutions of higher education. We are designing programming to enhance our convening values of Connection, Collaboration, and Cohesion. This is the “+” in our branding. This is for you. This is for our State.
On occasion, we will write (in more detail) about the importance each of these values delivers to our work, ourselves, and to our collective Research Administration ecosystem. Together we will celebrate these values before, during, and well-after the convening. We look forward to your participation April 16-17 – virtually or in person with us at Flagstaff.
Tom Champagne
2024 Conference Co-Chair
NSF Granted Program
The Tri-University Research Administration Conference+ will be held for the third time in 2024. Previously a partnership between Northern Arizona University, Arizona State University, and The University of Arizona, more educational institutions are joining to broaden the conversations around research administration across Arizona.
Experts from the Arizona Research Administration community will be sharing the latest information on a variety of topics practitioners are navigating today. The theme of this year’s convening is to celebrate the values of Connection, Collaboration, and Cohesion.
Conference results will inform the NSF GRANTED program to create a connected network of Research Administration Practitioners through the Coalition of Leaders in Advanced Research Administration (CLARA) to continue collaboration across the state of Arizona between annual TURAC+ events.
Meet the people behind TURAC 2024+
TURAC is made possible through volunteers from Arizona’s three public universities: Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, and the University of Arizona.
The convening was organized and hosted by our two co-chairs, Tom Champagne and Valerie Keim, as well as six subcommittees. The subcommittees focused on communications, content & presentations, evaluations, logistics and volunteers, programs, and networking. In total, 42 individuals volunteer on a TURAC 2024+ subcommittee.
In addition to the volunteers who organized the convening, each session was led by presenters volunteering their time to contribute to TURAC 2024+. This year, the convening featured 50 unique presenters leading the sessions.
